Last Week's Runs

I forgot to provide and update for last week's runs: just two runs this time (as I couldn't be bothered on Friday ;-) ), both of 5min 30 sec @ 2% gradient @ 6mph giving a distance of about 0.54 miles per run, and both on the treadmill in the gym.

My only issue is the 2nd metatarsal on my right foot was a bit tender after the second run. I think I may be aggravating an injury I imposed on myself several months ago when I got my Vibrams and tried to run the distances I ran in shoes.

I think I'll stick to bumping the time on my runs, but I'll run in shoes this week.

That's it For The Week

Just finished my 3rd run for the week: 5 more minutes on the treadmill after my gym workout, bring the week's total to 15 mins and 1.5 miles. I think I'll only give weekly summaries of my runs from now on, unless I do something different and more noteworthy.

Another 5 Minute Run

I went for my 2nd 5 min @ 2% @ 6mph run on the treadmill this afternoon, after my weight lifting session, and felt really good. So good in fact I was really tempted to push things and go for 10 mins or so. But self control set in and I stopped at 5 mins.

I know I can easily do more from a cardio perspective, but I don't want to rush things. SOOOO many times I've got the idea of getting running again into my head, got over eager and ended up injured or knackered. All the running experts suggest a 10% increase on a week by week basis, and that's what I plan on doing. This week being the exception as it's my first week and 10% of nothing is nothing ;-) .

Easy Going

Well, as promised, today I went for my first barefoot run on my quest to running completely shoe free. It wasn't anything hectic, and deliberately so. It was just a simple 5 minutes @ 2% incline @ 6mph on the treadmill after a challenging gym workout.

I'm starting slow and in the gym as it's convenient at the moment and also I need to strengthen the muscles and bones in my feet before pounding the tar.
