How Do You Ride Your Bike Then?

I worked from home yesterday and decided I'd go for a gentle walk up to the local park and back to get a bit of exercise and to keep my feet used to being barefoot. On the way back I was approached by a little boy on his bicycle. He greeted me, which was quite refreshing, and then asked "Why aren't you wearing any shoes?". I replied: "Because I don't want to hurt my feet

Barefoot 24hr Race - 165200 Meters or 102.65 Miles

Some say barefoot runners are crazy and I tend to joke about it too and talk people round to seeing my point of view, but Todd Ragsdale takes the biscuit. He's definitely mad: 102.65 miles around a 400 meter track for a new world record. You can see a news report from a local TV station too (how old is the article's reporter? 15? I feel so old).

Dr. Runner’s World and Mr. Hyde

A great post from Christopher McDougall pointing out the wakening Runner's World seems to be showing signs of in the world of barefoot and minimalist running. Lets hope this rubs off on the UK guys - they weren't too favorable in a recent article.

My Supportive Wife

Some of my friends and family think I'm a little bonkers when they hear I've taken up running again, but this time completely barefoot. I'm sure most of them give it a fleeting thought whilst we're discussing it and then shrug it off with the thought "daft fool". Well, not my wife. Whilst she isn't into running and isn't likely to pick it up any time soon, she is supportive and she made me smile yesterday. Whilst driving home from my sister-in-law's, we passed a runner and out of the blue my wife nodded in his direction and said "Lose the shoes you woofta".

100km Per Month

I've just uploaded today's run to FetchEveryone and noticed I've clocked over 100km in a single month for the first time since my return to running, and the month isn't even over yet. Also, every one of these kilometers has been completely barefoot. Woohooo!!!

Survival of the Fittest: Exercise 'can fight ageing'

Interesting article on the benefits of long-term physical activity on ageing. I like the bit on intelligence levels too. Explains a lot in my case ;-)

Ditch Your Trainers and Run Barefoot

The London Evening Standard has a chat with Galahad Clark, founder of Terra Plana, about barefoot running. Some interesting names are dropped too including Jonathan Ross, Ben Fogle and Bear Grylls; apparently they're all vocal fans of going barefoot.

VivoBarefoot Press Link

Looky looky, my VivoBarefoot Aqua review has been given a mention in the press section of Terraplana site. How cool is that??!!

Athletic Footwear and Running Injuries

I think this is one of the best articles I've read that details the harmful effects of modern running shoes: Athletic Footwear and Running Injuries. It shares a common theme with the article by Christopher McDougall but it's presented as an essay, with more detail and includes a supporting reading list at the end.
